Session 1 - 1PM EST Start Time
Game 1: (1-1) Beasts vs (1-1) 8oki
First Half
The Beasts won the Rock-Paper-Scissors and elected to defer to the second half. 8oki and Quarterback Mitch Kidd would head out to start the game on offense. 8oki pushed the ball downfield in a hurry. A trick play would see Kidd hooking up with Wide Receiver Patrick Smith for a touchdown. A successful two-point try extended the lead for 8oki to 8-0.
Quarterback Alphonso Howard would get the start for the Beasts. Howard would create some offense with his legs on the first drive for his squad. Two plays later, Howard would complete his first pass in the FCF. He’d find Wide Receiver Jacoby Herring on a 19-yard strike for a TD. The two-point try was unsuccessful from Howard to newly signed Wide Receiver Martavis Bryant. 8oki would go 4-and-out on the next drive. They would use the Wendy’s Flip The Field Power Up, giving the Beasts terrible starting field position.
The Beasts would get a chance to take the lead on the next drive. Alphonso Howard and Jacoby Herring continued to connect and move the chains. Wide Receiver Jordus Smith would haul in a beautiful ball from Howard for a 24-yard touchdown, giving the Beasts a 12-8 lead.
8oki’s rhythm on offense continued to struggle to on beat on the next drive. After being faced with another 4th down situation which they failed to convert, the Progressive 5th Down Power Up would be deployed. Mitch Kidd’s pass would fall incomplete, giving the Beasts the ball following the turnover on downs.
With great starting field position, the Beasts would run the ball a lot inside of one minute to play in the half. Superback Quinn Porter would punch it in from one yard out, giving the Beasts a 18-6 lead.
With just 28 ticks to play, 8oki would try to get some momentum heading into the second half. Mitch Kidd would find Wide Receiver Joseph Boykin, dropping a dime to the end zone. The 32-yard strike would pull 8oki to within striking distance at 18-14. The two-point try was successful, making it 18-16. That’s how the half would end after the Beasts could not find the end zone on the next drive to close out the first twenty minutes of play.
Second Half
The Beasts would be back to work on Offense to start the second half. Alphonso Howard would once again use his legs to extend plays and keep the drive alive. The drive would end with another TD through the air from Howard to Jacoby Herring. The score would sit at 24-16 in favor of the Beasts.
The first snap on offense for 8oki would go backwards. They would recover though, moving the ball nicely down the field. Later in the drive, 8oki would use it’s Power Play Power Up. With the 7-6 disadvantage, the Beasts secondary would step up in a major way. Defensive backs Styvis Latham and Dashawn Benton would bat some passes away in the end zone. The defense would force another turnover on downs as the Beasts would take over on offense with 1:00 left to go in the game.
Jordus “Cheat Code” Smith would get himself into the rushing action on the next drive. He would take a handoff from Howard and elude several defenders en route to a touchdown. The Beasts would extend the lead to 32-16 following a successful two-point play.
It seemed like 8oki would be down and out of it. They’d add a late TD from Mitch Kidd to Patrick Smith. With the score sitting at 32-24, 8oki would once again score a touchdown! They would use the onside kick and throw for the monster TD to Joseph Boykin. With the score at 32-30, Patrick Smith would convert a successful two-point try, giving the game a 32-32 tie.
Overtime
The Beasts would start with the ball in overtime. We’d see more magic from Alphonso Howard and Jordus Smith. Following a QB run, Smith would get a pitch out and punch the ball in for 6. Following the unsuccessful two-point try, the Beasts would take the 38-32 lead.
8oki’s Superback Malcolm “Gump” Ballard would rush for a TD on the first play in overtime for the offense. Another failed two-point try would keep the game tied at 38 all. 8oki would get a second straight chance to score, and they would. Once again Malcolm Ballard would rush for a touchdown. The conversion attempt was no good and the score would be 44-38 in favor of 8oki.
Once leading 32-14, the Beasts would need to come from behind and win this one. Following a nice run from Alphonso Howard, they’d be faced with a 4th down. 8oki’s defense would hold strong, getting the win in OT with a final of 44-38!
